Questions
Why charge for workspaces?
One workspace covers most single products for free. Agencies and teams that host many clients in one install get the most value, so they pay a small flat price that keeps the project going.
What happens when I add a second workspace?
Studio asks for a license key. Your first workspace keeps working without one.
Are collections, records or members limited?
No. Free has no cap on collections, records or members. The only limit is one workspace per install.
Is MCP free?
Yes. MCP is part of the free core and works in every workspace. Pro does not gate it.
What does the AI assistant need?
Your own model provider: bring your provider keys or a base URL. It is in development and not released yet. Kanesh itself needs no AI key.
What happens when my key expires?
Extra workspaces become read-only. Nothing is deleted, and they work again when you renew. Your first workspace keeps working.
Is Kanesh open source?
Yes. The core is AGPL-3.0, an open-source license. Pro code lives in the ee/ folder under the Kanesh Commercial License (draft). The source is visible, but using it needs a license key.
Can I self-host offline?
Yes. Keys are signed and verified offline, with no phone-home, so air-gapped installs work.
Is it per user or per seat?
No. One price per install, no matter how many users, records or workspaces.
